Baby and life update

Well we went to The Maternal and Fetal Clinic at Maine Medical in Portland on Tuesday. The doctor said that so far everything looks good. I have to go back on February 10th. The baby was stubborn and would not turn so the Ultrasound Tech could not get all the views of the heart. That was the most important organ that they wanted to get views on. I asked about cleft pallette and hair lip as that is something that runs in my family, and he said that there were no signs of either in the ultrasound. Asked about Scoliosis as that runs in Jeremy's family, we were told that that is not a birth defect but a developmental defect, and to advise our pediatrician so they can watch for it as the baby grows. He also gave me somethings to watch for with my diabetes, in the 3rd trimester. I was also told that I should be able to have the baby in Rochester, unless the baby has to be born to prematurely that Frisbee Memorial would not be able to keep me and the baby safe. Oh and to finish this part of the blog we found out that we are having a boy.

On another note Jeremy and I are going to get married. We are just going to do a justice of the peace and later on celebrate with our family and friends back in Washington.

just a quick update

I am not big on writing, usually do better if some calls me or I run into them at the store. But I am trying to write more since there is about 3000 miles between me and the majority of the people who are reading this.

I went to the OB today, he said that the pap I had at the beginning of my pregnancy show mild abnormal cells so at this time he opted to not do a colposcopy, but said at some point they will go and do just a look see, with no cells being taken to do a biopsy, since I am pregnant. That will be done after I deliver. They say I am 16 and a half weeks along. He said that I have gained extra weight, but due to my being diabetic and not wanting to starve me he is not to concerned about the weight gain. I am now waiting for the office to call me with an appointment up in Portland, ME for an ultrasound. That appointment will be in about 2 weeks. Due to my being high risk they want me to get established up there, in case I have to go there to deliver the baby instead of at Frisbee in Rochester. He did the fetal heartbeat and it was good and strong.

Well everything else is going well. Our roommate is moving out this month, so things will be a little tighter financially but am not worried about finances. Cause I know so long as I am not making stupid decisions God will provide us with what we need. He always does. Even if we don't see it. Still struggling with not having friends and family around to go and do things, but Jeremy and I have been going to a small group that has been a great mid week refreshing to the soul. Still not to excited about being a parent yet, not feeling pregnant but just FAT!!

anyways hope everyone is doing well.

Baby Update

Well I just got back from the OB appointment. We could hear the heartbeat on the doplar thingy. I will be going to Maine Medical in Portland, ME in a few weeks to have a fetal echocardiogram done, and to find out the possibilities of having a baby with birth defects and such.

Pregnant

Well I am 10 weeks pregnant. I am extremely high risk, due to my being a type 1 diabetic that was not under control. So far things are going well. They have me on the loaner insulin pump. In one month I have brought my A1C from a 12% to an 8.1%. Under good conditions they would want me to try after I have had that at a 6% for at least 3 months. I am still high risk to miscarry, and to have a baby with birth defects, but I am working on doing what they are asking me to do, and praying. Will keep people posted with what is going on as I find things out.

Insulin Pumps 2

Well this weekend I have been on a saline pump, to get me used to the pump and all the neat features that come with it. Found out that it is 100% covered once I meet all the requirements of my insurance company. I also need to get off my but and find the letter from my insurance company in Washington to prove that I had prior coverage to waive the 6 month pre-existing clause that my current insurance company has. It should make things a lot easier once I get used to having a needle more or less stuck in me with tubing from the needle to the pump device that is like carrying around a pager, but I don't have to take an injection every time I need to lower my blood sugar, or want to eat a snack. I just have to change every 2-3 days the site that the quick-set is inserted. On Monday I will be getting the actual insulin in the pump, and once everything goes through with my insurance I will have my own pump and will be able to return the loaner pump. Thank you for all prayers. God Bless Michelle

Insulin Pumps

Well today I met with the local reps for medtronic to look into getting an insulin pump. It would be really cool if it works out. So if you are the praying kind of person please pray that the pump that will best suit my needs is what will be provided to me. The diabetes educator at the Endocrinologist that I go to is even going to be able to get me on a loaner for a few months if the insurance company says no. I am just concerned that the insurance company will say no, or my out of pocket expense will be to much for me to be able to afford. It can be upwards around a thousand or two.

Will update more later.

Thank you for prayers

Well my foot is doing well. The Dr. thinks that the ulcer should go away if I continue to use the steroid creme, and in two weeks when I go back, if this has happened he is going to prescribe a diabetic foot creme.

Find out more about my wrist tomorrow, it still hurts to do a lot of things, but the pain is something that I am getting used to.

social classifications

I love my sun porch. I can sit on the couch that we have out here, with my laptop and just people watch like I love to do.

I have heard a lot from different people the comment "Rochester's Finest". When they are saying this they are referring to the "undesirables" in Rochester. Yeah some of the people you wonder why they make the choices that they make to live in poverty, mooch off the system, etc. But I also know from experience growing up, my mom was on welfare and stayed at home until my brother and I were old enough to be by ourselves. The system was different then and there were a lot less single mom's. But why I am writing this is I think that people choose to only see the visible. They don't see the single mom who thought she was going to have a partner to help raise the kids, but he turned out to not want to live up to his responsibilities, so now she has to do what she can to be the bread winner, and care taker. A roll that was never meant to be done by one person. They don't see the Teenager who was able to walk away from a home life of physical, emotional, drug and alcohol abuse, who is supporting himself like a grown working adult and still going to high school so he can go to college, and have a better life for himself.

I guess I just wish that people weren't so judgemental, so not my problem and be willing to extend a hand to help, maybe not financially, but offer to take that single mom's kids to the park for an hour or two so she can have a couple of hours to her self to either take a nap, go grocery shopping with no kids, go to the doctors, etc. Offer to that young teenager some tutorial help, or be a mentor to help stay on the right track and not end up on the same path his parents are on.

I think we should all be stepping up in our communities to be the role models that these young kids need if they don't have them at home instead of celebrities. Especially when the current role models are teaching it is ok to cheat on your significant other, there are no consequences, its ok to spend all your money on designer clothes, purses, etc before you take care of your bills.

I get picked on because I refuse to watch Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie movies. Yes he is an amazing actor, but I am not going to financially support someone that a child is going to look up to and think he is so cool. If they are going to look up to someone I want it to be someone like Michael J Fox, who I don't care if he doesn't take his meds to show people what his disease is like, he still is doing something positive with what God has given him. He is still faithfully married to the same woman that he married many years ago. Tom Hanks is another awesome example of someone that I think is a good example. But because they are actually good examples you don't see them in the news because thye have no scandals or skeletons in there closet. To bad the media thinks that what is news worthy is only the negative.

Sorry for rambling just felt a need to share.

Oh pleese keep praying for healing for my wrist, I find that somethings I can do with no pain and other things that you wouldn't think would hurt feel just like it did when I first broke it. The doctor did tell me that it is possible that it didn't heal.
